Tokai Optical is a Japanese company established in 1939 that specialises in the manufacture of specialised ophthalmic lenses. They have recently released the Transitions version of their super lens – the 1.76 ultra-high index lens that surpasses all current lenses in terms of lightness and thickness. These are the thinnest lenses in the world and being 2x more scratch-resistant than conventional lenses, they come with a 1 year warranty.
Ultra-high index lenses are recommended for people with high prescriptions and also for cosmetic purposes. Because of their aspheric design, Tokai has said these lenses give the wearer a more natural field of vision compared to other non-aspheric lenses.
